DAVID JONES, PhD

Work History and Background
Education is and has been Dr. Dave Jones's primary career interest. As a professional educator in the public schools, he quickly advanced from classroom teaching to administrative positions in three Kansas school districts. He has served as school superintendent, high school principal, and assistant high school principal, and at the present time is principal of Shawnee Mission's Broadmoor Technical High School, a position he assumed after taking a ten-year break from public education to pursue a second career in technical marketing.

This second career continued to utilize his expertise as an educator: as an Educational consultant for IBM, Dave worked closely with colleges and universities, and as sales manager he facilitated educational computer technology presentations and in-service training. Meanwhile, his third career as an electrician has continued to develop to the point that for the past twenty-five years, he has been licensed as a Master Electrician. In this capacity he is an estimator and project manager as well as teaching electrical apprenticeship classes and serves on the Johnson County Community College Electrical Technology Advisory Committee.

Education
The educational background of Dave Jones includes undergraduate and graduate degrees from Fort Hays State University, and a Ph.D. degree from Kansas State University. Before completing his formal education, however, he served four years with the United States Navy as an Electrician's Mate, and returned to college later. Dr. Jones ultimately divided his professional life among three careers.

Although he is anticipating retirement, Dr. Jones has no plans to remain idle. He has always found time to be active in such civic organizations as the Olathe City Planning Commission, the Olathe City Board of Electrical Examiners, Eagles, Elks, Kiwanis and others.
