JIM JORGENSON, CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL
Jim has been involved in municipal code enforcement since 1973. Jim joined the City of Lenexa in 2005 as the Building Codes Administrator. Prior to that, he worked for 18 years at the City of Overland Park as the Assistant Codes Administrator and as Building Codes Administrator. He also served in the capacities of Plans Examiner, Chief Plans Examiner and Building Code Engineer for the City of .Wichita from 1973 through 1986.
Jim has participated in code enforcement at the national level by serving on: the International Code Council (ICC) International Energy Conservation Code Committee in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005; the ICC International Mechanical Code Committee 2002; the ICBO Indoor Air Quality Committee in 1989 and 1990; and the BOCA Code Interpretations Committee in 1989, 1992 and 1996. He was president of the Johnson County Building Officials Organization in 2005.
Educational Experience includes a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University, and a Fire Protection Technology Certification from Oklahoma State University. He has been a licensed professional engineer in the State of Kansas since 1990. He is a Certified Building Official and has other ICC Certifications.
