BUILDING CONTRACTOR
Class B, Building Contractor. A Class B License shall entitle the holder thereof to construct, remodel, repair, and demolish all structures not exceeding three stories in height. A Class B License shall also entitle the license holder to perform non-structural remodeling, tenant-finish, and repairs of all structures. The annual Class B License fee shall be $200. There is a one time Registration Fee of $100.00 applied to all new company applications.
NOTE: NO HOLDERS OF A CLASS "A" THROUGH CLASS "C" LICENSE SHALL BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL OR PLUMBING SERVICES WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING THE APPROPRIATE CLASS LICENSE.
Requirements: Applicants shall be licensed by satisfying one of the following provisions.
Examinations, license approval, and issuance. Contractor applicants shall be licensed by satisfying one or more of the following provisions:
- Obtain a certificate of competency from a nationally-recognized
testing institution as contemplated by K.S.A. 12-1508 (plumbing,
contractors); K.S.A. 12-1525 (electrical contractors); K.S.A.
12-1541 (HVAC contractors); and K.S.A. 12-1556 (building and residential
contractors). Nationally recognized test (Experior/Block & Associates
or ICC).
If taking an Prometric or ICC exam your score must be 75% or above and an exam that
meets our requirements.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in (construction related) engineering, architecture, or construction science from an accredited college or university.
Photo ID Required - Photo ID cards will be furnished for all qualified individuals. Contractor Licensing will take a photo of each qualified individual. Or a digital photo (preferably in .jpg format) may be submitted via e-mail to contractor.licensing@jocogov.org
Valid Drivers License or Photo I.D. of Qualified Individual (Government Issued)
